How did week two go?

We had a great showing at the Fairgrounds and at Lincoln Park for the second week of Abe's Army!

Did everyone find their group? Please speak up if you are not matched with the right pace group. This is YOUR training program. When you train at the right pace with the right coaching you will get the BEST results. We encourage you to move around the groups to find the right pace. Do not be shy about this--ask your running leader for advice and to introduce you to another group leader to try out a new group.

We have a pace for everyone and we want each and everyone to feel successful. There is no such thing as TOO SLOW!

Let us help you run and walk your way to the finish line!

I am in the walking group right now. I have been training on my own as a run/walker. I would like to move to a run/walk group, so should I talk to my group leader on Monday? Just wondering, this is my first year. Thanks.

If you want to run with us this weekend meeting at Lost Bridge Trail at 0730 on Saturday. . We have a walk/run group with pace around 13-15 minute mile.

ang871, I can vouch for Maria's group -- they are a great bunch of ladies and sounds like the pace is just right for you.

Ang871~
Just ask your leader to find you the group that is above them. If that group isn't your pace just keep working your way up until you find the group that fits your pace/capability.

If you need to know Ang871 our group is 19 or Orange 4 if you would like to join us.

I have a question, this year I signed on as a walker. I was unable to come this past Monday due to a work engagement. Are the walkers one large group or assigned based on pace? Who do I talk to and where shall I report on Monday?
Thanks

Anonymous,

The walkers meet as one large group in Lincoln park. Just look for a leader holding a walking sign prior to 5:45. If you can't seem to locate them, just ask one of the main leaders and we will help you find them.

I signed up to racewalk but I would like to just walk instead. Do I just go to the walk group on Monday too?

Billikers,
Yes, just look for the walking group on Monday. Someone should be holding a sign or have one of the main leaders help you find them.

Thanks Holly for assisting me in moving to a slower paced group.

I have been in a run/walk group but due to some back issues, I have to drop the running for probably the summer :(. I have done a couple half marathons so I know I am up for the distance, just not the running right now. What pace does the walking group go at? I can't make it tonight but hope to be back next week to join a different group.

Anonymous,

I am unsure of the walking groups pace at this time. Are there any walkers out there that can answer this question?

They are a large group so I am sure that they have many multiple smaller groups that walk at various paces.

They would love to have you and just look for them next week.

Hope that you recover soon.
