Update on Tuesday Night's Emergency - Sadly, one of our runners suffered ill effects from the heat on Tuesday evening and was taken to the hospital. Jan Wilson reports that she visited with the lady that evening, and she is recuperating. At this time, it does appear that she was suffering from heat exhaustion.
Parking - Please remember to park in Lot 21 at the Fairgrounds!
Leaders' Shirts - The shirts are in! Check with Jan to pick your shirt up.
Log Books - There are additional log books for anyone who needs one.
Rain Policy - Abe's Army will meet if it is raining (sounds crazy, but it's really very refreshing!). Wear a hat or visor to keep the rain out of your eyes and have fun splashing through the puddles. However, we will not run if there is lightning.
Racing Opportunities - Try out a race before the big race in August! The Women's Distance Festival is a fun 2-mile race held at Washington Park on Saturday, July 14. The Sizzling Mile is a one mile race on Wednesday, July 25. Applications are in the newsletter Foot Trails, or you can pick an app up on Tuesday night.
Safety on the Road - Please remember to stay on the left side of the road and run against traffic. This is especially important as we venture out onto Third Street.

Are the Leaders' shirts different from the ones we got on registration night, or are these shirts for the Leaders who didn't get a shirt earlier?
Also--a group is running the course Saturday morning. We meet at the Grandstand and run at 7 am.
Barry - The Leaders' shirts are the same shirts; they are for those who didn't get a shirt earlier. I should probably edit the blog.
Will there be water at the cemetery on Saturday for those running the course, or should people plan to carry water?
Glad to know she is doing better.
Word to all leaders! In this weather, please remember to spread out your coverage. Never leave a recruit by themselves if they start to lag. You never know when something like this happens. That is why at least one leader should always be near the tail-end of your recruits. Remember its about them doing the training.
Anne--I'm 85% certain that there will be water at the cemetery. At the very least, a gallon of water will be there.
And there are always the water fountains in Lincoln Park.
Thanks Barry. OK recruits, here's your opportunity to try out the actual Abe's Amble course! Come on out Saturday morning at 7:00 a.m. (earlier if you want to beat the heat and know the route) and meet in front of the Grandstand. It might be a good idea to carry a bottle of water.
Actually, the weather is supposed to be pleasant Saturday. Predicted high is only 83 with the wind out of the northeast. And Friday night's low is supposed to be 58.
So I'm hoping heat will NOT be an issue for us on Saturday!
I will drop a few jugs at the cemetery and have a few in my truck at the grandstand.
