Abe's Army Info

Abe's Army is a 12 weeek training program that will get you ready to run the Abe's Amble 10K race.

The Army is geared toward new runners, people who have been away from running for a while, or people who have never run a 10K before.

The 2006 version of Abe's Army is set to begin on Tuesday, May 30.

Keep checking back here for more details.

Hey, I filled out a form to be a platoon leader and mailed it weeks ago but I haven't heard anything. Um, am I not wanted?

BTW, Tim, how many blogs you gonna put up? ;-)

Applications are available at the following sites:

All three FitClub locations
The Springfield Running Center
YMCA
Gold's Gym
Springfield Racquet and Fitness Center
SRRC website - SRRC.net

Registration is limited to 400 this year so get your application in early.

Remember, there will be groups for folks who want to run the entire race, plus there will be several groups for folks who want to run and walk. Also available will be a walking group.

This program requires dedication and effort, but the feeling you get from finishing your first race in beyond description. Our volunteer Platoon Leaders are all runners and many have participated in Abe's Army themselves. They'll give you support, encouragement, a thirteen weeks of fun. (The thirteenth week is the "We Did It" picnic.
